Archibald, Mcclure win medals at Nordic ski nationals

Emma Archibald of Fall River won four gold medals and Maggie Mcclure a silver and bronze at the Nordic Canada Ski Nationals in Thunder Bay, Ont., during the weeklong competition.

Archibald, representing the University of Ottawa Nordiq Ski Team, dominated the para-nordic standing division with wins in the interval start freestyle (7.5 kilometres), sprint freestyle technique (1 km), sprint classic (900 metres) and mass start classic (10 km.).

Halifax’s Maggie Mcclure of Carleton University was second in club sprints with teammate Brownyn Williams. On Friday she added a bronze medal in the 30km classic race in a race won by Olympian Olivia Bouffard-nesbitt. Mcclure also placed fifth in Open women’s sprint freestyle and 10th in distance freestyle. Milo Sircom-brown of Wolfville placed ninth in freestyle sprint and 25th in interval start freestyle.
