TILLEY, Edna Jean
Passed peacefully away at Glenbrook Lodge to be with her Lord on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 aged 93 years. Edna was predeceased by her loving husband Augustus (2002); sisters: Marjorie Sharpe and Ruby Crocker and brother Earl. Left with loving memories her four daughters: Donna Down (Roger) Clarenville, Judy Kearley (Roy) Ottawa, Christine Milley (Garry) St. Thomas and Debbie Scott (Carl) Mt. Pearl. Also celebrating Edna’s life her grandchildren: Michael (Marsha) and Meredith Down, Adrian (Tiffany) and Matthew Collins, Erika (Jonathan) Massimi, Andrew (Crystal) and Philip (Gwen) Milley, Alison (Kris) Crocker and Christopher Lush; step grandchildren: Erica (Graeme) White and David (Kiersten) Scott; 19 great grandchildren, even through distanced from many of them, she always loved to talk about them and talk with them through facetime. Edna was born in Nippers Harbour, Green Bay on May 13, 1928 to Lemuel and Pearl
Batstone and was one of six children. On October 14, 1948 she married Augustus Tilley of Nippers Harbour. They started their life there, later moving to Grand Falls – Windsor and finally settling in St. John’s. Edna was a superb baker who passed on
many of her recipes to her daughters, that they will cherish. She was an excellent knitter and produced many woolen items of intricated design for her family who proudly wore her nordic sweaters. Edna loved to travel and enjoyed many cruises with her husband Augustes. One of her most enjoyable road trips was with Donna and her family driving from Vancouver Island to Newfoundland. She loved camping and spent many summers up at the trailer. We will always remember her strong determination and thirst for life and her faith in Jesus which was showed in her love, devotion and care of her husband in his later years and her in her own long life of 93 years. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home 73 Commonwealth Ave. Mt. Pearl, on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00pm. A Celebration of Edna’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 from Barrett’s Mt. Pearl Chapel at 2:00 pm. Please, call Barrett’s 364-1937 to register for
