GATES, Vivian

Age 89 of halifax, passed away at Oakwood Terrace in Dartmouth on November 15, 2023. Born in North Sydney, she was a daughter of John Phelan and Annie Martin. Vivian was dedicated to her family and church, The Salvation Army. She is survived by her sons, Kevin and Patsy, Atlanta, GA; Eric, Bedford; John and Florence, Halifax; brother George and Barb, New Minas; grandchildren, Wesley, Donald, and Derek; great-grandchildren, Ava, Maya, Savannah and Baxter; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husbands, Baxter Thorne, Leo Mcneil and Don Gates; sisters, Violet and Anne; and brothers, Brian and Jack. Cremation has taken place. A private family graveside service officiated by her grandson, Rev. Derek Thorne will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
