CONRAD, Jean Philomene Cecelia

Age 75, of Halifax. We are saddened to announce the sudden passing of Jean on November 12, 2023. Born in Halifax, she was the eldest daughter of the late Pius Patrick Oakley and Frances Olive (Collicott) Oakley of Spryfield and loving mother of son, Gregory Michael Conrad. Jean enjoyed spending time with family, especially at her nieces’ homes for family dinners and during the holidays. She maintained a beautiful home where she also loved to work in her gardens and soak up the sun. In the later years, Jean enjoyed spending time with her neighbors, enjoying tea and bingo. Jean retired from the City of Halifax as Finance Manager, where she worked for many years. She is survived by her son, Greg Conrad, Halifax; sisters, Sheila Oakley, Halifax; Barbara Smith, Ontario; nieces, Dawn (Clark) Henneberry, Rhonda (Wayne) Durnford, Sambro; nephews, Trevor Oakley, Scott (Melissa) Oakley, Sambro; Chad Shiers, Halifax; Shawn Shiers, New Zealand; and many greatnieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her loving husband, John Conrad; brothers, Brian and Pat Oakley (of Sambro) and sister, June Shepherd (of Ontario). Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, November 22nd in Dartmouth Funeral Home, 29 Queen St., Dartmouth. A private burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
