Woman, 71, hit by truck in Wolfville
Police in Wolfville are investigating after a 71-year-old woman was hit by a truck while crossing a street on Friday, Nov. 4.
Emergency crews responded to the scene of the collision on Front Street around 10:30 a.m. RCMP officers learned that the driver of a Ford F-150 pickup truck was travelling north on Central Avenue when they stopped to turn at the Front Street intersection.
After stopping at the intersection, police said the motorist turned west on Front Street when the vehicle hit a pedestrian who had been crossing the street.
The pedestrian, an Ellershouse woman, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the pickup truck, a 44-year-old West Glenmont woman, was uninjured.
Police said mild weather has increased pedestrian traffic and encouraged drivers and pedestrians to travel safely and be aware of their surroundings.
