Man arrested after Mounties seize guns, ATVs during search

A Lower Burlington man is facing a slew of charges after police searched a property in the community and seized several guns and off-road vehicles.

West Hants District RCMP searched the property on Highway 215 on June 26, seizing a number of ATVs, dirt bikes, side-by-sides and several firearms.

Joseph Philip Michael Hope, 31, was arrested at the scene without incident, the RCMP said in a news release.

On June 27, Hope was charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm and unauthorized possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized. Hope was also charged with unsafe storage of a firearm, five counts of possession of property obtained by crime and possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number.

He has been remanded into custody and was scheduled to appear in Kentville provincial court on July 4.
