ROYAL VISIT TO NEWFOUNDLAND

Prince Charles stops to chat with some junior high students who greeted him and his wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, upon arrival May 17 at Confederation Building in St. John’s, where the royal couple began their visit with a welcoming ceremony in the presence of Indigenous leaders. The public ceremony, also attended by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Gov.-gen. Mary Simon with her husband Whit Grant Fraser, included military honours, a prayer in Inuktitut, Innu drumming, Mi’kmaq music and artistic performances, as well as official addresses by dignitaries and the Prince of Wales.
