TRURO - New community clinics for the booster dose of COVID vaccine will be opening in addition to pharmacy, mobile and other clinics throughout the province.

In Truro, a clinic will be open starting Jan. 24 at the NSCC campus on Arthur Street.

The COVID testing centre at the Rath Eastlink Community Centre also started offering vaccine by appointment on Jan. 10.

People can book a booster dose if they are 168 days past receiving their second dose. As of press deadline, people 30 and over who meet this criterion and the health status questionnaire are eligible to book. African Nova Scotians and those in First Nations communities can book for ages 18 and up.

Those 30 and over are being encouraged to book Moderna doses, with the younger cohorts being recommend to receive Pfizer due to less reported incidences of myocarditis/pericarditis (inflammation of heart muscle and lining) compared to Moderna.

The campus has been used as COVID vaccine clinic site in the past.
