N.L. productions receive screen award nominations

Four television productions filmed in Newfoundland and Labrador have received a total of 13 Canadian Screen Award Nominations — the most nominations ever associated with the province.

Among the productions receiving nominations is the comedy series Astrid and Lilly Save the World, which has been nominated for best comedy series and best original music, comedy.

Hudson & Rex has received a total of six nominations, including best sound, fiction, best original music, drama, two nods for best lead performer, drama series, best guest performance, drama series and best guest performance, drama series.

Additionally, Rock Solid Builds has been nominated for best lifestyle program or series, while Son of A Critch has received four nominations, including best original music, comedy and best supporting performer, comedy, best guest performance, comedy and best achievement in hair.

N.L. Film Development Corporation executive director Chris Bonnell congratulated the nominees.

“Your work over multiple years in developing and producing content has created a strong foundation upon which the industry continues to grow in this province,” said Bonnell in a news release.

“A key driving factor in reaching consistently high levels of production activity has been the capabilities of the province’s producers and talent and this recognition is well deserved.”

The awards will be broadcast on CBC and the CBC Gem app on Sunday, April 16, at 9:30 p.m. Newfoundland Standard Time.
