ATLANTIC BRIEFS DESK sw-briefs@saltwire.com

Digby RCMP say police have exhausted all leads in an investigation into a suspicious fire that destroyed the band hall in Bear River First Nation last year, and investigators are turning to the public for help.

On May 13, 2022, Digby RCMP and firefighters responded to the fire on Reservation Road at around 1:15 a.m. On arrival, officers found the building engulfed in flames.

Despite efforts to extinguish the fire, the building was destroyed.

The RCMP says police have collected evidence and information throughout the investigation, but all leads at this point have been exhausted.

As part of the investigation, police are trying to identify the occupants of a vehicle that drove by the scene of the fire, as they may hold key information.

The RCMP has re-released two videos showing the vehicle driving near the area at the time of the fire, which have been shared online on the provincial RCMP's Facebook page.

Anyone with information about the vehicle or the fire is asked to contact Digby RCMP at 902-245-2579 or tip anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
