Fans of indie wrestling left Windsor satisfied Saturday night after nearly three hours of live entertainment.

Hants County’s Cody Brown, who goes by Lil’ Blay, was the crowd favourite, wrestling twice during the May 20 evening contest.

Brown started off the night by challenging (The King) J.P. Simms, who would only wrestle in the main event if Brown could best Nick Strong. Brown won that match by disqualification.

Up next was MMA fighter Bryan (Giant) Orion, who won by pin fall over the Muscle Beast Wesley Pipes.

Former WWE superstar (Highlander) Robbie McAllister then bested 2022 Lutte Académie finalist (Moondog) Dylan Davis by pin fall.

“The highlight for me was kicking Dylan Davis’ butt. He’s been shooting his mouth off about me, so I put him in his place,” a smiling McAllister said following the match.

McAllister, who moved to Nova Scotia about a year and a half ago, said the crowd was great. At least 300 people attended the event at the Hants County Exhibition grounds.

Narcis Saint, who lives in Halifax, defeated Matt Connors with help from Enfield native Ryan Mader (a.k.a. Lincoln Steen). This prompted a tag team match following an intermission, with Steen and Saint being defeated by Sabotage, the tag-team combination of Connors and Justin Newhook.

Brown and Simms were the final match, with Brown emerging victorious.

“We almost didn’t have a ring, we almost didn’t have sound equipment, we almost didn’t have enough people in the back to put on a wrestling show — and we did it,” Brown told the crowd.

“So because of you guys, Windsor will be the next professional wrestling town of

Nova Scotia.”

After thanking the crowd and those involved, Sabotage made their way out to the ring, where they turned on Brown. Orion ran out to assist Brown, setting up a tag team street fight for when wrestling returns to Windsor on Aug. 26.

Emily Parker, who hails from Truro, is a second generation referee, following in the footsteps

of Frank Parker, her father. Parker, who had her debut on Impact! Wrestling earlier this year, officiated the show, while (Captain) Kirk Starratt returned from retirement to serve as ring announcer.
