Podcast version of Animal Farm released

A Canning-based theatre company has released a podcast version of its award-winning theatre production of Animal Farm. Two Planks and a Passion Theatre Company said in a recent news release that the podcast version of the play is a vivid re-telling of the George Orwell novel published in 1945. The original production by Two Planks and a Passion theatre was nominated for eight Merritt Awards, winning outstanding new play and outstanding direction at the 2019 ceremony. “This podcast is an excellent opportunity to share our work far and wide,” said artistic director Ken Schwartz. “The podcast version is an immersive experience, unlike other experiences. It focuses us on the journeys of each animal in a deeply personal way.” The podcast will feature performances by Jeff Schwager, Burgundy Code, Ryan Rogerson, Chris O’Neill, Matthew Lumley, Genevieve Steele, Tim Machin and Andrea Lee Norwood. The musical features music and lyrics by Allen Cole and book and lyrics by Schwartz. Allen Cole was the musical director and Schwartz the director for the podcast. It was recorded and edited by Ian Sherwood and stage managed by Robin Munro.
