TRURO - Easter activities start this weekend with a couple of opportunities to get a photo taken with the Easter Bunny this Saturday (March 25) in downtown Truro.

The Downtown Truro Partnership (DTP) is doing photos at their office (670 Prince St.) from 10 a.m. to noon and then again after lunch from 1 to 3 p.m. They’ll also be doing photos with the Easter Bunny on Thursday, March 30, from 3 to 6 p.m. and 7 to 8 p.m.

There is no appointment required and the cost is $5 per group (cash only).

“Spring adds new life and joy and being able to offer photos with the Easter Bunny for our community makes us happy,” said DTP executive director Saribel Deslauriers.

“We are always trying to bring new things to our downtown area and while you wait for the Easter Bunny to make an appearance you can come join us. As you can see, we are very excited for the arrival of Spring.”

Also this Saturday, local small breed dog rescue group Wee Ones Dog Rescue will be holding an event with three attractions, including Easter Bunny photos from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Being held at the Truro Firehall (165 Victoria St. – use promenade entrance in back), the event also includes a bake sale and dress sale which goes from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“People struggle this time of the year to be able to afford prom dresses for their children,” Wee Ones Cindy Harrison wrote about their fundraising event. “Wee Ones has collected over 130 dresses, and we will be selling them at affordable prices. Dresses will range from $25 to $150. Something for every budget, and something for all sizes.

“Wee Ones will also be doing an Easter Bunny photo shoot again this year. Come down and have your photo taken with the Easter Bunny and the Easter Bunny’s girlfriend Penny. For a $5 donation to Wee One’s Rescue, you will get one digital photo with the main bunny and his beautiful girl bunny. Bring your pets, your children and the whole family and capture some special memories, all while supporting a great cause.”

EASTER EGG HUNT

The following weekend, on April 1, the recreation departments from the Town of Truro, Municipality of the County of Colchester and Village of Bible Hill have teamed up to hold Easter Egg Hunts at different locations in the areas.

For Truro, it will be held at Victoria Park. For Bible Hill, at the Bible Hill Recreation Park, and for Colchester, two locations – Fundy Discovery Site and in Tatamagouche at Nelson Memorial Park.

Families interested are asked to pick the location closest to their residence and each hunt is done by ticketed time slots starting at 11 a.m. Tickets are limited and can be picked up at the following location corresponding with the hunt’s location: Truro – Douglas St. Recreation Centre (40 Douglas St.), Bible Hill office (67 Pictou Road),

Colchester County office (I Church St.), and Tatamagouche Public Library (170 Main St.)

“To offer something closer to home, neighbouring recreation departments have come together to offer Easter Egg Hunts in different communities,” said Town of Truro special events and culture coordinator Megan Burgess.

“Each department will offer similar experiences in their corresponding parks on April 1. Families can pick up a free ticket (one per child) to confirm their participation from their local recreation department. Tickets are required as there is a max amount of eggs to be collected.

“On the day of the egg hunt, children will have different options on how they want to collect their eggs. It is meant to be a fun experience while enjoying the outdoors,” Burgess added.
