Bridge work to start-up

Reduction to onelane around start of April

RICHARD MACKENZIE TRURO NEWS richard.mackenzie@saltwire.com

TRURO - Drivers are reminded work on Salmon River Bridge on Hwy. 102, just outside of Truro, will be recommencing soon and the expectation is, according to Nova Scotia Public Works communication director Toby Koffman, the lane reduction between exits 14 and 14a is “scheduled to start at the end of the month.”

“This work, and the lane reduction, will continue until late fall,” Koffman said in an email reply to the Truro News. “We encourage drivers to use 511 to get updates before leaving and consider alternate routes or allow extra time to reach their destinations.”

Those traveling through the reduction last spring and summer will recall the congestion it caused not only on the highway but also coming into Truro through Mcclure Mills Road or exiting off of Robie Street to the highway, especially during the end of work-day traffic, with Friday lateafternoon/early-evening seemingly being the worst.
