Andyn Furmidge, 17 Middle Stewiacke, N.S. Five-foot-eight, 170 pounds Forward, No. 16 Bearcat-of-the-week honours went to rookie Andyn Furmidge. In the 7-4 win over Yarmouth, he scored his first MHL goal. It was a big one since it proved to be a winning goal. Andyn also assisted on the insurance marker. He, James Beaton and Ben Diamond (hat trick) had a great night. Hats off to rookie defenceman, Simon Mullen for picking up his first junior goal. Andyn came up through the Truro Bearcat Major Bantam program, playing a solid 200foot game, with 12 goals and 15 assists in his second season. During the 2019-20 season, he suited up with the Fundy Thunder (Midget Minor) while also seeing time with the Weeks U18 club. Last year, he played a full season with the Weeks U18 Program. He came to the Bearcat training camp as an undrafted walk-on. He displayed a strong work ethic, playing a smart reliable game. The coachable rookie has been earning increased ice time and responsibility. ON TAP Thursday, the Bearcats are in Pictou County to face the Crushers. Friday, the Bearcats host the league-leading Summerside Capitals as part of the Week of Reconciliation. Saturday, the Bearcats are off to Amherst. Next Wednesday, the Bearcats host the Yarmouth Mariners. Remember, the annual Kinsmen Teddy Bear Toss will be held that night in support of the Christmas Index.
