River Phillips man placed on probation for assault

NEWS

TRURO, NS – A River Phillips man was recently placed on probation for 24 months in provincial court after previously pleading guilty to assaulting a woman and damaging her cell phone. Robbie Dedrick, 41, of Wyvern Road pleaded guilty to the charges last April. The incident occurred last Oct. 9 in Truro. Dedrick had initially also been charged with assault by choking but that matter was withdrawn by the Crown. Several other charges of breaching court undertakings by contacting the complainant and failure to attend court were also withdrawn. Under his probation conditions, Dedrick is not permitted to possess or consume alcohol beverage or illicit drugs and is not permitted to enter establishments where alcohol is sold. He must also successfully take counselling as directed for alcohol and drug use, anger management, domestic violence and mental health issues and is banned from possessing firearms or other weapons during his probation period.
