Search and rescue training happening
Four aircraft and approximately 80 military personnel from 14 Wing Greenwood were to conduct search and rescue training exercises out of the Yarmouth airport May 29 to June 2.
Two CC-130 Hercules aircraft and two CH-149 Cormorant helicopters from 413 (Transport and Rescue) Squadron will train throughout the week as part of TUSKER Exercise 2023.
“Members of the public can expect to see low flying aircraft, flares and parachutes,” read a media release. “Training will occur throughout the day Monday to Friday, with three hours of training between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.”
TUSKER Exercise 2023 will include water rescue scenarios, parachute jumps, night boat hoisting and managing multiple simulated casualties over both land and water.
Training allows the Canadian Armed Forces to test and strengthen member skillsets on land, at sea and in the air to ensure we remain operationally ready to respond to emerging safety and security challenges.
