Although the opening of the commercial lobster season is always slated for the last Monday of November, the opening is also weather dependent.

This year’s season is scheduled to open on Monday, Nov. 28. However, two days of flexibility have been approved by DFO to see the season open on Nov. 26 or Nov. 27 should the weather forecast for Nov. 28 not be favourable.

If none of those dates work, there is no deadline after Nov. 28 as to when the season can open.

There will be industry/ DFO conference calls happening this week to evaluate the weather forecasts.
