The Movember campaign

Initiated in Australia in 2003, the Movember campaign began in Canada in 2007 and is now the leading men's health charity in more than 20 countries.

This year, there were approximately 60,000 Movember participants in Canada.

“Movember funds go to world-class research and support programs in prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention. To date, we've funded over 1,250 innovative men's health projects globally, nearly 300 of those right here in Canada,” says spokesperson Natasha Compton.

“The stats are staggering. In Canada, three out of four suicides are by men, and men die, on average, four years earlier than women,” she says. “We know we can have the most impact by prioritizing and focusing our efforts on health issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention.”

In 2020, the Movember campaign raised $24.8 million in Canada. More than 85 per cent of funds raised are allocated to men's health projects.

Movember Conversations is a free interactive digital tool available in Canada in both English and French. The online tool uses a module-based guided approach to tough conversations relevant to today's world. In addition, Movember Conversations uses simulated conversations to explore how anyone might navigate a difficult conversation with someone they care about. Movember Conversations was built by Movember and guided by an international team of mental health experts.

Family Man is the world's first online parenting program

aimed at dads, available in Canada in both French and English. Family Man is a completely free, evidencebased online program aimed at helping caregivers – but especially dads – build stronger practical skills to help with tricky behaviour in children. It ultimately hopes to help improve dad's mental wellbeing by encouraging them to feel more confident in the parenting process.
