RCMP charge man for sexual offences committed against youths

PREMIER CROSSWORD PUZZLE

The Barrington RCMP have charged a man accused of committing sexual offences against two youths. On Oct. 7, the RCMP received a report that two youths in the Barrington area had been lured for a sexual purpose by a man. Police began an investigation and determined that both youths had been lured for sex over a social media platform by the man. “The man made arrangements with the youths to pick them up and then took them to a property where he sexually assaulted them,” an RCMP media release reads. Through their investigation, RCMP officers determined the suspect was a 28-year-old man from Halifax. With assistance from Halifax Regional Police and Halifax District RCMP, the man was contacted, and on Nov. 17 turned himself in. Kane Story Buchanan, 28, of Halifax, has been charged with sexual assault (2 counts), sexual interference (2 counts) and invitation to sexual touching (2 counts). Buchanan was remanded into custody and appeared in Yarmouth Provincial Court on Nov. 19 for a bail hearing. He was released on a bail surety and conditions. His next court appearance will be Dec. 9 in Shelburne. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Barrington RCMP at 902-637-2325.
