Two people displaced by fire
Third COVID-19 vaccine dose becoming available
Some Nova Scotians will be able to schedule third COVID-19 vaccine doses starting on Oct. 19.
The province says appointments for third dose booster shots will be available for immunocompromised individuals. Third doses will also
be offered to anyone taking medication that suppresses their immune system or anyone traveling for work to help avoid isolation in a country that does not recognize mixed doses.
When booking, patients will need to identify health issues to confirm they are immunocompromised with clinics reviewing information with the patient before the third dose.
To obtain a booster dose for work and travel-related
reasons, Nova Scotians must provide a written letter from their employer confirming travel for work is required and documentation from the country of travel confirming the country does not accept mixed doses.
Two people have been left without a home after a fire destroyed their mobile home near West Green Harbour in
Shelburne County on Oct. 13.
In a media release, Canadian Red Cross spokesperson Dan Bedell said a woman and her teenage son were staying with relatives after the fire on West Green Harbour Road burned down the mobile home around 6 p.m. on Oct. 13.
The two were assisted by Canadian Red Cross volunteers with emergency purchases such as food, clothing and some other basics.
No injuries were reported.
