JUBILANT

Hideib said the first day the facility was open was both exciting and rewarding for all involved.

“The last seven months have been a culmination of hard work and partnership with existing staff, new team members and the many amazing contractors and vendors that have supported the work needed to get us open – strong,” he said.

“Staff loved seeing the enthusiasm of those returning to their familiar spaces, along with welcoming those exploring Mariners on Main for the first time.”

Hideib also expressed gratitude for the support and energy received from the community, and said staff appreciate the public’s patience as schedules and programming expand.

After the YMCA closed last year, the Town of Yarmouth stepped in to purchase the facility so the building could have a continued recreational use in the community in the future. Aside from being run by the Mariners Centre, Mariners on Main is jointly funded by the Town of Yarmouth, the Municipality of Yarmouth and the Municipality of Argyle, which have worked together to see the facility reopened.
