Funding earmarked for tech startups organization

The Nova Scotia government is granting more than $1 million over three years to a non-profit organization that supports technology startups and entrepreneurs.

The funding will go to Propel ICT, a private sector-led non-profit that mentors technology startups throughout Atlantic Canada.

The organization provides services across all four Atlantic provinces, accepting about 110 companies into its programs each year. In 2022, Propel admitted 37 Nova Scotia companies into its programs.

The funding agreement, set at $350,000 each year, started on April 1.

Kathryn Lockhart, CEO of Propel, said Nova Scotia continues to develop a reputation as a top destination in Canada to build a startup.

“The caliber of companies that we are seeing coming through our program is a testament to the support system and resources that are here for founders to access, no matter what the stage of their company,” said Lockhart in a news release.

Zach Laberge, CEO and Founder of Frenter, a Propel alumni, said he was grateful for the guidance he received from the organization during his entrepreneurship journey. (Contributed)
