Bringing the unbreakable to festivities

It’s summertime and the living is supposed to be easier.

And if you could enjoy your soft drinks or wine outside on the deck or beside the pool in a glass that both looks good and is unbreakable, well, maybe your summer living is easier and safer. Make the glasses reusable, dishwasher safe and stackable, and you are enjoying a Tritan™ glass kind of summer.

Tritan™ is a copolyester, a lab-tested material that is formed when polyester is combined with other ingredients to make a strong, clear and resistant product. It’s then used to manufacture items commonly made with crystal, glass or plastic. Tritan™ is a trademarked material. It’s known for maintaining strength and shape as well as clarity despite constant use.

The primary difference between plastic or Tritan™ is in the durability. A Tritan™ drinking glass will sparkle like crystal, shape like glass and be more durable than simple plastic. That’s good news for parties on the deck or beach or anywhere you don’t want to have glass material but still want to enjoy your beverages in an attractive container.

These glasses are so light that it makes it easy to have a bunch of them ready to carry to an event. In an age of being ‘green’ it’s good to have the choice of a plastic glass that can be washed hundreds of times. Tritan™ is a great idea for family gatherings, outdoor weddings, beach or pool parties. The fact they are copolyester lowers the cost over good glass or crystal.

Stackable glasses made from Tritan™ should be a staple in every camper, RV and cottage as they store easily (stackable up to four or fivev glasses as long as you have the shelf height) and they are dishwasher safe. The improvement on the dishwasher safe part is particularly important to me as the first generation of these glasses was not. I have four glasses from the first generation of ‘unbreakable’ product. One of them was put in the dishwasher and the opening is now more like a figure eight than round. It didn’t melt or breakdown; just warped. The first glasses were not stackable either so that is another big step forward. My glasses stay in the picnic basket I have ready at all times, just in case a perfect day or opportunity shows up.

New this summer are Tritan™ stackable and unbreakable glasses with funny sayings on them. That can be helpful when you have a few drinks going as now everyone can identify ‘their’ glass from the saying on it. Parties and gettogethers are such a fun part of our summer and let’s enjoy the socialization. Cheers!

DID YOU KNOW?

The first man-made pool is considered to be ‘The Great Bath’ located in southern Pakistan. Built about 3000 BC, it measured roughly 40x20 feet and was likely used for bathing, not swimming.
