March 22, 1965 - April 30, 2023. It is with shattered hearts that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Charles King in Portsmouth, UK, in the presence of his youngest brother, Phillip (Kristina Kosovskaja) and the love of his life, his wife, Andrea. Charles will be lovingly remembered by his brother, James (Andrea Adamson) of Halifax and their children Bronwyn and Simon; brother-in-law, Stephen Whiffen (Reiko) of Vancouver, BC, their children, Naomi and Christopher; sister-in-law, ("Sister"), Kristina Whiffen (Robert Molloy) of Halifax; as well as relatives and countless friends the world over whose lives he touched immeasurably. He was predeceased by his parents, Ralston (Ross) and Joan King. Charles had a number of passions but mostly he was a fish out of water. It began in his younger days with the Mount Pearl Marlins, then he discovered windsurfing and thus began a decades long dedication. He became a commercial diver and spent several years working around the UK and Newfoundland then continued to dive recreationally. Sailing followed closely behind and he and Andrea spent countless hours on their sailboat, "Erin" as well as crewing in local races and for several blue water crossings from Bermuda to the Caribbean. In 1997 Andrea moved to Bermuda, Charles followed closely behind and it became their beloved home until 2022. It was there that he took up running and went on to complete the London Marathon in 2004. While in Bermuda they began to travel extensively and eventually fell in love with Mexico, where they hoped to make a second home one day. As is evident from his extensive collection of vinyl, cassettes and CDS, music was a tremendous part of his life, the love for which he impressed on Andrea and they attended many live concerts during their travels. Cats were also always a big part of his life and he would happily give up the comfy chair if it was otherwise occupied. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the incredible staff of the Critical Care Unit at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham. Cremation has taken place. Details of a celebration of his life will follow at a later date.

"In life, no one will remember how you looked, walked, talked or what you did... Everyone just remembers you by the way you made them feel when they were with you."
