LEARNING, Edward David

Passed peacefully away on May 31, 2023 at the Health Sciences Centre. Predeceased by his loving wife, Gloria, of 59 years; his parents, Charles and Kathleen; brothers, Samuel, Charles and Wayne; sisters, Dora (Seaward), Joan (Morrissey), Blanche (O’neil) and Edna; nephew, Jason Cornick; and close friends, Austin Anthony, Jack Bishop, and Gladstone Sparkes. Leaving to mourn his son, Peter (Wanda); and granddaughter, Maria (Howie); as well as his sister, Patricia (Williams) and many nephews, nieces, and friends. Ed loved the outdoors, including canoeing, fishing, hunting and riding his ATV. He shared his love with many younger generations, having been involved with the Scouts for over 35 years. While he was a jack of all trades, he worked at the Health Sciences Centre and Miller Centre for over 25 years. He retired to his cottage on Salmonier Line, where he spent many hours puttering in his shed and having boil ups in the surrounding trails with his friends and neighbours. The family wish to thank the Staff of 4 North B HSC for their kindness and care. Also, special thanks to Dr. Gokul Vidyasankar. Family will receive visitors at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Sunday, June 4 from 2-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ed’s memory may be made to Scouts Canada.
