Province scrapping licence plate stickers

Drivers in Newfoundland and Labrador will no longer have to put registration stickers on their licence plates, beginning June 15.

The decision to scrap the stickers comes after several other provinces made the move, including British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec.

Motor Registration will continue to print and mail official registration documents, and annual vehicle registration fees will still apply.

Insurance and registration documents should continue to be kept in vehicles at all times. Stickers currently issued must remain on the plate and will be valid until their expiry date.

In addition, annual registration fees are reduced by 50 per cent for passenger vehicles, light trucks and taxis for another year, to March 31, 2024, a continuation of a 2022 provincial budget announcement.
