ANDREWS (Kirby), Regina Marie

Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre, in the presence of her loving family, Regina Marie Andrews (Kirby), on Friday, May 26, 2023 aged 88. Predeceased by her parents, William and Sarah Kirby; brothers, William Kirby and Francis “Hank” Kirby; sister, Theresa Brennan; and sisterin-law, Till Kirby. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories is her husband, Walter Andrews; son, John Andrews (Janet O’reilly); sisters, Lucy Mckinley (Donald), Carol Burke (John) and Margaret Sheridan (James); sister-in-law, Gail Kirby; brother-in-law, Alick Andrews (Joan); as well as many loved nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors from Tiffany Lane Condominiums as well as other relatives and friends. Arising out of her interest in the wellbeing of everyone, Regina was involved in the opening of the first welfare office in Labrador City – Wabush. In the late 60’s Regina and Walter moved to Corner Brook where she continued her work as a social worker. In the late 70’s Regina, Walter and their new son John moved to St. John’s where she dedicated her time to the residents of St. Patrick’s Mercy Home, first as an employee, then as a long-term volunteer. Regina also gave her time to the Rabbittown Learners Program. Regina lived a life of service and dedication to her faith which included a deep personal relationship with both the Sisters of Mercy and the Presentation Sisters. Resting in Caul’s Funeral Home, Lemarchant Road on Monday, May 29th from 2–4 and 7–9 p.m. Funeral Mass to take place from St. Patrick's Mercy Home today, Tuesday, May 30th at 3 p.m. with interment to follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Regina’s memory to the St. Patrick’s Mercy Home Auxiliary or to Rabbittown Learners Program.
