PHOTO OF THE DAY
Email: weather@saltwire.com
The cold weather over the weekend made for some incredible scenes. John Ruedy captured sea smoke and trees coated in rime ice along the Northwest Arm in Halifax. Like fog, sea smoke forms when frigid air moves over relatively warm water causing moist air to cool and condense. You can also see a coating on the trees, known as rime ice, which forms when supercooled water droplets freeze onto surfaces. Great photo, John. Thanks for sharing.
