Two people killed in head-on highway crash

Two people died in a headon collision Thursday, Jan. 26, on the Trans-canada Highway east of the Goobies weigh scales.

The RCMP said the crash happened shortly before 5 p.m. and involved a pickup truck and an SUV.

Both drivers, a 46-yearold man and a 53-year-old woman, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The only other person in the truck, a passenger, was taken to Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.
