Diesel increases by 35.2 cents per litre

The price of diesel shot upward by 35.2 cents per litre in Newfoundland and parts of Labrador overnight Friday, Jan. 27.

The Public Utilities Board announced an increase of up to 35.2 cents per litre (cpl) to the price of diesel.

Meanwhile, the price of furnace oil increased by 30.48 cpl.

The price of stove oil also increased in Western Labrador and Churchill Falls by 41.98 cpl.

The Board noted the increases for diesel motor fuel and stove oil heating fuel in Western Labrador and Churchill Falls are the result of a significant increase in the benchmark price for New York Harbour Ultra Low Sulphur Kerosene.

The increase for furnace oil heating fuel is also the result of a significant increase in the benchmark price for New York Harbour Jet.

The next scheduled price change is for Thursday, Feb. 2.
