FENNEY, Ronald Chesley

July 4, 1935 – August 8, 2022. Passed peacefully away, surrounded by his family who adored him, Ronald Penney, age 87 years. Predeceased by his loving wife, Lucy Penney (1999) and special friend Millie North (2021); parents Thomas and Leah; brothers Douglas, Fraser, Lester, Donald (Irene), Boyd (Cora), & sister Jessie (Chet Chetwynd), brothers in law Walter Whalen (Emmie), Fraser Kirby, and sisters in law Audrey Gulliver (Jack), and Flora. Leaving to mourn with treasured memories are his four sons: Paul (Sandy), Darrell (Nancy), Scott (Andrea) and Jason (Charlene); 5 grandchildren, Adam (Ray), Lisa (Richard), Emma, Nathan and Frieda, great granddaughter Kendall, special sister-in-law Sadie Kirby, the North family, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends, including the Mt. Pearl Seniors Independence Group and neighbours at Masonic Park. Special thanks to the medical staff at St. Clare’s 4 East and the HSC 4NA, and to Dr. Essaji who provided excellent care for many years. Ron was born in Victoria, Carbonear and raised his family in Mt. Pearl. He worked at Bonavista Cold Storage, The Lake Group and FPI, where he retired from in 1998. His quick wit, love of sports and a good game of cards, his positive outlook on life and his love for and commitment to his family are well known to all who knew him. The world has lost a good man… heaven has gained an angel. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Avenue on Friday, August 12th from 24pm and 7-9pm. Memorial Service to be held at First United Church, Mt. Pearl, on Saturday, August 13th at 10:30am. Interment to follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the First United Church in Mt. Pearl or the Canadian Cancer Society.
