YOUNG, James Donald

Passed peacefully away, surrounded by his loving family, on August 08, 2022, James Donald Young (Jim) aged 94 years. Predeceased by daughter, Nancy (Young) Llewellyn; parents, Harry and Edna Mae Young siblings, Gord (Lillian), Bill (Louise), Cecil (Florence), Helen (Leo) Marquis. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories wife, Geraldine (Sainsbury) Young; sons: Harry (Brenda), Gerald (Michelle), Cecil (Medina), Andrew (Charmaine); daughter, Catherine (Randy) Boone; son-in-law, Donald Llewellyn; grandchildren: Andrew (Lizel), Allison (Jason), Elizabeth (Sheldon), and Victoria (Avery) Young, Gerald Jr. (Amanda) and Lesley Young, Kaitlyn Young, Alison (Dave) Pynn, James (Kendra) and Dianna Llewellyn, Tamara (Marc) Sample, Jeffrey Boone, and Carolyn (Aaron) Munn; great grandchildren: Olivia and Everett Young, Lucy Young, Joshua and Isaac Pynn, Maya and Farrah Sample, Emmett and Josiah Munn, Kristel and Zyra Pedroso; beloved Fur baby Prince; sisters-in-law: Angela Price, Mary Parsons, Mae (Don) Dyke, Audrey Maher, Nancy Parsons; also a large circle of relatives and friends. Jim was a prominent businessman in the East End of St John's as owner/operator of King's Bridge Service Station Co. Ltd., established in 1941. He worked alongside his father, Harry and then with his son, Gerry and was proud of his continued legacy with his son, Andy and grandson, Gerry Jr. joining the business. Colloquially known as the "King" of King's Bridge, Jim was known for his trademark cigar and kindness to his customers, he will be greatly missed on "the Bridge". Go rest easy in that Fair Haven where the fish are surely biting. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors of St. Clare's and HSC Emergency Departments and the 6th floor Orthopedics, the 5th floor Urology and 4th Floor Neurology/palliative Care; the Eastern Health and Palliative Care Paramedics teams; Public Health; Community Support nurses; and TLC Home Care for your support and kindness over the past 11 months and for the extraordinary care to our husband and father. The Young Family. Visitation will take place at Carnell’s Funeral Home 329 Freshwater Road from 7-9 p.m. on Friday August 12th. Funeral service to be held on Saturday August 13, 2022, at 2 p.m. at the Carnell Memorial Chapel. Interment to follow in the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Rd.
