Man taken to hospital after being shot

Police are investigating a shooting in St. John’s that sent a 49-year-old man to hospital on Saturday, Aug. 6.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting in the area of Gilbert Street around 7:30 a.m.

The victim was taken to hospital, treated and released, the RNC said.

Police believe a red Honda Civic, which was found in the area of Lemarchant Road a short time later, was involved in the incident.

Police also do not believe the shooting was random.

The investigation is ongoing.

The RNC is asking that witnesses or anyone with video footage in the area around the time of the shooting call the RNC at 729-8000 or tip anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
