Tickle Swim returning to water for 10th annual fundraiser

Swimmers will take to the waters of Conception Bay in September to support mental-health programs in Newfoundland and Labrador.

After recent fundraisers being held virtually due to COVID-19, the Canadian Mental Health Association N.L.’S 10th annual Tickle swim is returning to the water in-person.

The event features a five-kilometre swim from Portugal Cove-st. Philip’s to Bell Island in the frigid North Atlantic waters on Sept. 17 at 7 a.m.

Organizers have set an alternate date of Sept. 18 in case of bad weather.

Money raised by participants will help CMHA-NL’S programs to increase mental health support in the province.

The event also aims to demonstrate the connection between mental health and physical fitness.

Those interested can find a swimmer or donate at bos.etapestry.com/fundraiser/ Canadianmentalhealthassociati_6/10than nualmunninsursncetickleswimformentalhealth/.

Teams can register to participate at tickleswim.ca/register.
