Emergency services at Bonavista Penninsula Health Centre to close temporarily on July 5

Emergency services at the Bonavista Penninsula Health Centre will be temporarily closed starting today.

Eastern Health said the closure is due to staff shortages and will take place from 8 a.m. today until 8 a.m. on Thursday, July 7.

There will be no change in location for patients with scheduled appointments at family practice clinics during the closure, the health authority said.

Outpatient services, including laboratory services, X-ray services, dialysis treatments and some ambulatory treatment services, except chemotherapy, will continue.

Patients who feel they have a serious or urgent medical problem should go to the emergency department at the Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville, Eastern Health stated.

Anyone unsure what type of treatment they need can contact the N.L. Health Line at 811.

Eastern Health said recruitment efforts at the hospital are ongoing.
