ROYLE-WALL, Clare

November 15, 1937-May 25, 2022

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Clare Royle-wall surrounded by her loving family at the Miller Centre on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 in her 85th year.

She is predeceased by her husband Patrick Wall, her parents John and Margaret Royle as well as her brothers Edward, Errol (Myrtle), and Bill, and her

partner Eric Perry; and brothers-in-law Con (Alice) and Jack (Rita).

Mom/mudder/nanny/gg is mourned by her daughter Peggy (Paul), her sons Rick (Deseree) and Randy (Krista); her grandchildren Sarah (Curtis) and Alex (Melissa), Emily (Andrew), Meagan

(Brandon), and Julia (Max), and Jesse; and her great grandchildren Maddie, Rachel, Maren, Aubrey, and Levi. She is also leaving behind her brother Randy Royle (Mary) and his family, her sister-in-law Bride Woodford (Albert deceased) and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Clare was born at St. Clare’s Hospital on November 15, 1937 and spent the last few weeks there before being transferred to the Miller Centre. She was ahead of her time for her generation and had a long

and illustrious career in the federal government, the majority spent as Post Master in Harbour Main. She knew everyone and everyone knew and respected her. She was often called upon for her sage and astute advice. She also served a term as Mayor of Harbour Main-lakeview-chapel’s Cove. She

was a Justice of the Peace and Notary Public. When she retired, she decided to return to her roots in “town” and moved to Mount Pearl.

She was involved in the community, school, and church activities in Harbour Main such as garden parties and weekly Bingo. She was a whiz with numbers and was, for many years, the go to person to fill out your income tax return. She knew every rule and every angle of the Income Tax Act and was always delighted when she managed to get you a

bigger refund than expected. She remained involved in the Post Office when she retired through the retiree’s group and as a volunteer to respond to Santa Claus letters sent to the North Pole. When

she moved to Mount Pearl, she continued her involvement with the Mount Pearl Seniors Independence Group where she loved a game of cards, rummoli, and getting together with her friends for weekly lunch outings at the Church of the Good Shepherd. She was a veteran and could be seen every November selling poppies. Mom had a great intellect and wit and enjoyed telling an off colour

joke. A keen mind, she kept up with the news, sports (especially Randy’s softball league and

Alex’s hockey), and her crossword puzzles until the end.

A big thank you to the kind and compassionate nurses and doctors on 7 West at St. Clare’s and at the Palliative Care Unit at the Miller Centre.

Visitation will be held at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Avenue, Mount Pearl on Sunday, May 29 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00. Funeral service will be held at Barrett’s Chapel at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 30. Private family internment to follow.

In lieu of flowers, you can kindly make a donation to Vera Perlin Society or with a “pay it forward” act

of kindness.

Rest In Peace Mom. Best Mudder ever.
