Man charged with firearms offences after disturbance in Torbay

A man is facing several firearms charges after police responded to a report of a potentially armed man in Torbay on Sunday, Jan. 23.

In a Jan. 24 news release, the RNC said officers responded to the report on Gosse’s Lane in Torbay just before 7 a.m.

Shortly after arriving in the area, officers determined the suspect was inside a home, and police contained the property and attempted to communicate with the man, the RNC said.

Officers entered the home just before 3:30 p.m. and took the man into custody without incident, police said.

The 36-year-old man is charged with assault, breach of a court order, careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, discharging a firearm and other firearms offences.

The man was held in custody to appear in provincial court.
