The trial for two men facing over 30 charges between them relating to armed robberies has been postponed until April, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the courts.

Brandon Bavis and Colin King were scheduled to have a five-day trial on Monday, Jan. 24, but that has now been scheduled for April 19-22. Both men are facing two counts each of robbery, theft under $5,000 and being disguised with intent to commit an indictable offence, and single counts of possessing property obtained by crime.

King is also facing a count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and five counts of failing to comply with a probation order, while Bavis is also charged with 10 counts of failing to comply with a condition of a release order.

Bavis, who is being held in custody, is also scheduled to be in court for a bail hearing on Wednesday, Jan. 26, on separate charges of robbery, mischief and assault, and three counts of failing to comply with court orders.

King’s lawyer made an application to have some evidence excluded based on an alleged violation of her client’s charter rights, which the judge said he would make a decision on by April 19 or earlier.
