AUCHINLECK, Rose

Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on November 28, 2021, age 86 years, of Torbay, Newfoundland. Predeceased by her loving husband Austin, her sister Pat, and numerous in-laws. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her children: Wayne (Martha), Bob (Shirley), Deborah (Kyle), and Susan (Claude); eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; siblings: Bert (Vivian); Jean; Dolores; Shirley; and Barbara; members of the Auchinleck family; and a large circle of other relatives as well as countless dear friends. Rose was a loving wife, a devoted mother, a cherished grandmother, and a treasure to her extensive family. She was proud of her lengthy business career in retail management and of her co-ownership of Aussie’s Confectionary in Ontario with her husband Austin. An enthusiastic traveller, she happily joined Austin on his military postings across Canada and abroad, as well as on their RV adventures and holiday cruises before their final retirement, home to Newfoundland. Known for her generosity and love of life, Rose connected with people easily and was always thinking of others, whether it was providing a listening ear, a helping hand, or a kind smile. She touched many lives through her work with Torbay Holy Trinity Parish, various community groups, and national organizations culminating in being awarded the Queen’s Jubilee medal for her outstanding volunteerism in 2012. As a widow Rose spent several contented years at Bennett House in St John’s with her siblings nearby, surrounded by friends, with Friday night and Sunday afternoon card games scheduled and her gobag ready for a vacation getaway. Rose loved Torbay and chose to spend her final years there. The family would like to thank the staff and residents of North Pond Manor, especially Lolly Noseworthy (Manager) and Cathy Furlong (Team Leader) for their kindness and compassion. As well, the family is especially grateful to Helen and Alec Auchinleck for the love, thoughtfulness, and tremendous support they provided to Rose in her final years. Thank you to the nursing staff and doctors at the Emergency Department and the Palliative Care Unit (5th Floor North A), Health Sciences Centre. Visitation from Caul’s Funeral Home in Torbay on Thursday, December 2nd between 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
