RCMP tickets two women for excessive speeding

Two women had their vehicles seized after police clocked their vehicles excessively speeding on Monday, Nov. 29, near Valleyfield.

In a Nov. 30 news release, the RCMP said patrol officers from the New-wesvalley detachment witnessed a car travelling at 145 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on Route 320 on Monday, Nov. 29, shortly before 4 p.m.

Police conducted a traffic stop, and an 18-year-old woman with three months of driving experience was ticketed for excessive speeding, the RCMP said.

The vehicle, carrying three other young occupants, was seized and impounded, and the woman’s driver’s licence was suspended, police said.

A short time later, the same officer witnessed a truck travelling 123 km/h in the area.

The officer stopped the truck and discovered that a 35-year-old woman was operating an unregistered vehicle without insurance, the RCMP said.

She was ticketed for the violation, and the truck was seized and impounded.
