7 DAY FORECAST, ST. JOHN’S

Look at these gorgeous colours Tim Gallant captured during sunrise at the North Rustico Harbour lighthouse in P.E.I.! Tim asked how we get sunrises and sunsets with red and orange colours in them. As the sun rises or sets on the horizon, the sunlight passes through more of our atmosphere and scattering of visible light occurs. The shorter wavelength colours, including blue light seen during the daytime, become more scattered. This allows us to see the longer wavelength colours, like red, orange and yellow. You can’t beat a good sunrise or sunset here in Atlantic Canada. Thank you, Tim, for sending us this great photo. Share your photos with us at
