Technl announces winners of first ever Tech Industry Awards

ST. JOHN’S — Five companies in Newfoundland and Labrador took home the inaugural technl Tech Industry Awards on Oct. 21.

In an Oct. 21 release, technl said the awards highlight the doers and dreamers who help position the province on the global stage.

The award winners are as follows:

-Tech Company of The Year: Verafin.

-Champion of Youth Award sponsored by Keyin College: Clearrisk.

-Women in Tech Advocate Award sponsored by Hatch: Sequence Bio.

-Community Leadership Award: Bluedrop Learning Networks.

-Startup of the Year sponsored by Genesis: Milk Movement.

“Celebrating these leaders together with the rest of our sector is the perfect demonstration of the collaborative spirit that marks the Newfoundland and Labrador tech ecosystem as special and unique,” said CEO of technl Paul Preston

Three high school students were also awarded scholarships and recognized for their bright fututre in the tech industry.

Evan Vokey, Sophia White and Jarod Chambers Geng were all members of the technl School Technology Immersion Internship which connects students with paid internships at local tech companies and enrolled them in a Python programming course at Keyin College.

Participating employers nominated students who demonstrated an entrepreneurial spirit, communitymindedness and a passion for technology.

The Technl-clear-risk Scholarships are valued at $1,000 each and were presented Vokey and White.

The Keyin-clearrisk Scholarship, valued at $4,000, was presented to Geng.
