Some Mount Pearl residents are asking the public for assistance in identifying three people after capturing on video what appears to be an attempted armed home invasion.

In a public Facebook post, three people can be seen on video walking up a deck, each carrying what appear to be firearms, between 11:30 p.m. and 11:50 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 19.

After checking to see if the door is locked, one individual kicks the door twice as the two others stand to the side. On the second kick, all three people, wearing hats, hooded sweaters or coats, and two of them with book bags, run away.

The Facebook post listed the area as near Commonwealth Avenue, Mount Carson Avenue and Topsail Road.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary confirmed on Thursday it is investigating the incident.
