Deer Lake man with $15,000 in fines has ATV seized

DEER LAKE — A 23-yearold man is without his ATV after being stopped by RCMP patrols while owing a substantial amount in fines.
In an Oct. 15 release, RCMP said officers were on patrol on High Street in Deer Lake shortly after noon on Oct. 13 and said they eventually learned the driver owed substantial fines.
When officers stopped the vehicle, they learned the operator had been suspended from driving since November 2017 and owed more than $15,000 in fines.
Officers ticketed the man for not wearing a helmet and driving while suspended. His ATV was also impounded for 30 days.
