Former CFO of Harbour Grace-port de Grave district accused of taking campaign funds

The former chief financial officer (CFO) of the Liberal party's campaign in the Harbour
Grace-port de Grave district is facing charges after an RCMP investigation into misappropriation of campaign funds.
In a Friday, Oct. 15, news release, the RCMP said police were notified on June 15 about fraudulent activity detected by the Harbour Graceport de Grave district Liberal party after a forensic audit of the campaign funds. Police said about $9,000 was taken from the fund.
After an investigation, police charged Cory Trask, 42, of Upper Island Cove with fraud over $5,000, theft over $5,000 and breach of trust.
Trask is set to appear in court on Nov. 24 to answer to the charges.
