RODGERS, The Reverend Theodore Clement

Clem passed peacefully away in the afternoon of July 21, 2021 in his 90th year at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital surrounded by family and loved ones. Born in Green’s Harbour, August 18, 1931 to Theophilus and Lily. He is predeceased by sisters Mildred & Elsie. Clem attended Memorial University College where he obtained a teaching certificate and went on to become a candidate for the United Church Ministry and studied at Mount Allison

University and Pine Hill Divinity Hall. He was later ordained into the United Church of Canada Ministry on June 7, 1960. Over his combined 60 years, he served in Musgrave Harbour (1960-1962), Old Perlican (1962-1969), Corner Brook (1969-1971), and Fortune (1971-1977). He went on to become the Conference Personnel Minister in St. John’s (1977-1992). His retirement was enriched by his ministry at Gower Street United

Church as the Minister of Visitation (1992-2002). Clem served various congregations and is known for his

compassion, kindness and the non judgemental support he provided. He is remembered as a man full of unconditional love and immense passion for helping others, a strong will, and bottomless wisdom. With his wonderful sense of humour, he enjoyed being in the company of his family and friends, for celebrations, get togethers or simply a game of Up The Creek. He will be deeply missed. Left with loving memories, his devoted wife Robin, three children Christine, Paul (dear friend Esta) & Jill (Eric). Grandchildren Jasmine (Michael), Adrienne (Matthew), Anthony & Cristian as well as many friends and colleagues. thank you to Barretts funeral home. Church and good friend Reverend David Guzzwell. A celebration of life and service of remembrance will take place on Monday, August 2nd, 2021 - 2:00pm at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations gratefully received in Clem’s name to Gower Street United Church St. John’s, NL or The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
