Man ticketed for driving with licence expired since 1993

A Norris Point man was ticketed twice over three days after police say he was caught driving with a licence that expired 28 years ago.

In a July 23 news release, Rocky Harbour RCMP said they received a report on July 18 about a car in Trout River that appeared unfit for the road.

Mounties later found the vehicle parked at a residence.

Police located the car’s owner, who didn’t have insurance or registration for his vehicle and had a driver’s licence that expired in 1993, the RCMP said.

Officers ticketed the man and told him the vehicle should remain parked until he corrected the violations.

Two days later, the same driver and vehicle were driving on Neddies Harbour Road in Norris Point, police said.

Police stopped the car and discovered that none of the previous violations had been corrected, the RCMP stated.

The man was ticketed again for driving with an expired driver’s licence, and without registration and insurance. His car was seized and impounded.
