Jr. A Crushers pick up OT win on the road

BERWICK – Lucas Parsons’s goal at 1:53 of overtime gave the Pictou County Jr. A Crushers a 5-4 road win over the Valley Wildcats in Berwick on Sunday, Nov. 27.

The Crushers went into the third period with a 4-2 lead but saw the home team score twice to set up Parsons’s OT heroics.

Riley Seymour, Ben Mercer, Nick Mahar and Neil MacLean scored the other Crushers’ goals. MacLean also added two assists and was named the game’s first star. Parsons was the third star.

Kenzie MacPhail made 45 saves for the win including stopping a penalty shot midway through the second period.

On Saturday, Nov. 26 in Yarmouth, the Crushers dropped a 4-1 decision to the Mariners.

Venel Campbell scored the lone Pictou County goal early in the second period.

Jeremy Robar made 30 saves in the Crushers’ net.

The Crushers are fourth in the Eastlink South Division with a 9-11-0-0 record, two points behind the Wildcats.

The Crushers host the South Shore Lumberjacks on Thursday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. and welcome the Valley Wildcats on Saturday at 7 p.m. Both games are at the Wellness Centre.
