Plymouth stable owner charged after allegedly sexually assaulting a youth

PLYMOUTH, N.S. — Pictou Country District RCMP has laid charges against a Plymouth man who allegedly sexually assaulted a youth and RCMP alleged there may be more victims.

RCMP officials said that a complaint was filed June 20 that said a sexual assault had occurred at an equestrian facility in Plymouth involving a youth victim.

As a result of the investigation, charges have been laid against a 68-year-old Plymouth man.

Pictou Country District RCMP said in a release they have charged Herbert Allison Best with two counts of sexual assault.

Best owns Krymsun Farms in Pictou County, a stable that raises quarter horses and offers riding lessons.

Officials also told SaltWire Network that the charges stem from a recent alleged incident.

RCMP also alleged there may be other victims and are asking that any other victims come forward by contacting the Pictou County District RCMP detachment at 902485-4333.

Best has since been released on the condition that he will not frequent locations that people under 18 years old are known to frequent, unless he is accompanied by another adult over the age of 25.

Best will appear in Pictou provincial court on Aug. 3 at 9:30 a.m.
